Originally from Scotland, I trained as a chef at the award winning Peat Inn near St Andrews.  After travelling around the world for a few years I finally settled on the Algarve as the place that I wanted to live…. and 25 years later it seems that was the definately the right decision.

I created a small restaurant called Mediterraneo in the centre on Lagos, with a daily changing menu reflecting the amazing fresh local produce, fish and seafood available here, based mainly on a modern mediterranean theme, but also influenced by the food from my travels in Asia and the Levant. We were also the first restaurant to offer a full vegetarian and vegan menu in the area, and were well known for this with clients coming into Lagos especially.

This also sparked my interest in special dietary requirements especially relating to gluten and dairy free baking, as this is becoming more and more relevant with the emphasis on eating healthily and food tolerancy awareness.

After almost 15 years I decided that it was time for a change, and decided to set up Mediterraneo Catering and custom baking service.

I like to call my food philosophy ‘home meal therapy’. I cook delicious and wholesome food for busy people. Homemade, fresh and elegant food prepared with love and integrity. I cook from the market so my food is seasonal, fresh and spontaneous. I love to come into people’s homes or cater at the venue of their choice, and bring joy and happiness through my food.

It’s simple really – I just love to cook!

Over 25 years have passed but my devotion to my business hasn’t changed. I still have the same commitment to food and love for what I do, and my biggest wish is to share that with you!
